Darren Till sent the UFC Liverpool main event into disarray when he missed weight by 3.5lbs on Saturday morning.
It was a rocky morning at the UFC Liverpool (UFC Fight Night 130) weigh-ins on Saturday. Main event fighter Darren Till, a native of Liverpool, came in over the welterweight limit (171lbs for non-title fights) at 174.5lbs. That came after weighing in with a towel, and after being granted an extra hour to make weight due to a “family emergency.”
The miss threw the main event up in the air, as Thompson’s camp worked to negotiate a deal to stay on the card. In a statement to MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani, ‘Wonderboy’s’ father and head coach Ray Thompson wrote that “Listen, Till called us out! He’s been a bit disrespectful during the course of promoting this fight. We came across the world, into HIS HOME TOWN, in front of HIS PEOPLE AND WE MADE WEIGHT. Stephen is a fighter and would NEVER want to disappoint the fans (short of illness) and came to fight! His management is working out the details.”
Update (10:55 AM EST) — the bout is on, as per MMA Junkie’s John Morgan.
Fight is on. Till can’t weigh over 188 at 1 pm tomorrow, forfeits 30 percent of purse, all to Wonderboy.

In addition to Till missing weight, flyweight Molly McCann, fighting Canada’s Gillian Robertson on the preliminary card, weighed in at 127lbs. Despite being given an extra hour to shed to extra pound, she weighed in a second time at 127lbs.
