In the co-main event of UFC Chile, strawweights Alexa Grasso and Tatiana Suarez went to war. It proved to be a short battle, a theme on the night.

UFC Chile (UFC Fight Night 129) took place Saturday at the MoviStar Arena in Santiago, Chile. It was the UFC’s debut in the South American nation, and it was a night that boasted plenty of finishes. In a fight that was a stepping stone for one of two young talents in the  strawweight division, two ranked fighters were facing off in the co-main event. There, striker Alexa Grasso was taking on the undefeated Tatiana Suarez, who is looking for her third straight win in the UFC. Suarez was the winner of The Ultimate Fighter 23.

Suarez vs. Grasso began with Suarez immediately looking for a takedown, and finishing it. Grasso looked for an inverted triangle, but couldn’t complete. They get back up, only for Suarez to take her opponent down again. Suarez then transitioned to the back of Grasso, and locked in the rear naked choke! Unable to escape, Grasso was forced to tap, and it was over!

It was a giant, dominating win over a ranked fighter for Tatiana Suarez. One that should propel her further up the rankings, and set her up for a tougher test in the months to come.
