Relive the action from ONE Championship: Heroes of Honor!
ONE Championship: Heroes of Honor took place Friday, April 20 in Manila, Philippines, boasting a bantamweight main event, plus the debut of the ONE SuperFight series. The SuperFight series, featuring Kickboxing and Muay Thai action, necessitated the use of a ring, meaning the MMA action stepped out of the cage. Instead, ONE debuted its five rope ring at the event.
It was a different look for ONE, as you can see below. The night was highlighted by the main event, which saw local hero Kevin Belingon improve his win streak to five (and overall record to 18-5) with a TKO finish of Andrew Lawrence. Belingon has not lost since a 2016 challenge against bantamweight King Bibiano Fernandes, one of the top 135lb’ers in the world. It appears the two are on an inevitable collision course, and the rematch should bring about fireworks.
A couple of former champions also stood out on the Heroes of Honor card. Ex-featherweight champ Marat Gafurov defeated Emilio Urrutia, snapping Urrutia’s four fight win streak. Another former featherweight champion in ONE, Honorio Banario (who held the belt back in 2103) continued to find success at lightweight. He defeated Adrian Pang via split decision at Heroes of Honor.
