Bantamweight contender Bryan Caraway is set to return to the octagon at UFC 222.
After well over a year on the sidelines, UFC bantamweight Bryan Caraway is looking to get back in the octagon in 2018. As first reported by The Las Vegas Review-Journal, Caraway will face Cody Stamann at UFC 222 later this year. The bout will mark Caraway’s first since UFC Fight Night 88 in May 2016.
Caraway (21-7) will enter UFC 222 on a two fight win streak, including that UFC Fight Night 88 bout against Aljamain Sterling. Prior to that, he took a unanimous decision victory against Eddie Wineland at UFC on FOX 16. Having fought in both Strikeforce and the WEC, Caraway later appeared on The Ultimate Fighter 14. He used the series as a springboard to break into the UFC, despite losing to Diego Brandao on the show. Caraway is 6-2 in the promotion since 2011, with injuries hampering his career of late.
Cody Stamann (16–1), a Michigan native, has been perfect in the UFC to date. Currently on a nine-fight win streak, Stamann picked up wins at both UFC 213 and UFC 216. In the latter of those two bouts, he put the brakes on the hype train of Tom Duquesnoy.
UFC 222 takes place March 3 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Max Holloway defends his featherweight title against Frankie Edgar in the anticipated main event.
