UFC on FOX 28 in Orlando has a key middleweight bout, as Yoel Romero returns to action!

At UFC Orlando in February, top middleweight Yoel Romero will return to action. Opposite him in the cage will be former WSOF dual-weight class champ David Branch. The UFC announced the bout Friday afternoon following an initial report on Twitter from MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani.

Romero (12–2) has not fought since July, when he suffered his first loss since 2011. Falling to Robert Whittaker at UFC 213 for the interim middleweight title, Romero will look to bounce back against Branch. It’s worth noting that since that bout, Georges St. Pierre dethroned Michael Bisping to claim the middleweight title. He then vacated the belt, which in turn allowed Whittaker to become the undisputed champion.

Whittaker faces Luke Rockhold in Perth at UFC 221 next year.

David Branch (21–4), meanwhile, is batting .500 in the UFC so far. He picked up a win in his debut at UFC 211 against Krzysztof Jotko. Following that split decision win, he came up short against Luke Rockhold at UFC Fight Night 116 in September. The former WSOF middleweight and light heavyweight champion, who defended his titles a combined four times and held both bouts simultaneously, will look to get back on track against the feared Cuban.

UFC on FOX 28 (UFC Orlando) takes place February 24 at the Amway Center in Orlando, FL.
