Some of Bellator’s biggest stars are coming out for Bellator 220 in April including former UFC standouts Benson Henderson and Phil Davis, and homegrown talents Liam McGeary and Adam Piccolotti.

Bellator 220 is slowly turning out to be one of the biggest of the year for Bellator. The card already has two title fights on it, one of those fights being Rory MacDonald defending his welterweight strap against Jon Fitch in the opening round of the welterweight tournament. The other features one of Bellator’s emerging stars Ilima-Lei Macfarlane defending her flyweight championship against Veta Arteaga on the April 27 card. According to ESPN, this event is set to become even more stacked.

According to Ariel Helwani, Benson Henderson is making his Bellator return against the surging Adam Piccolotti in a lightweight fight. Henderson had a rough start in the promotion, losing three of his first four bouts, including a split-decision loss to lightweight champion Michael Chandler. But since then, Henderson has bounced back with back-to-back wins over Roger Huerta and Saad Awad. Adam Piccolotti, on the other hand, has won two in a row inside of the Bellator cage.

Also announced for the card in California is a rematch of a light heavyweight championship bout from November of 2016. Phil Davis dominated Liam McGeary en route to 50-43, 50-44, and 50-45 scorecards, and won the light heavyweight championship in the process. Two and a half years later, they will run it back at Bellator 220.

Davis and McGeary have had their ups and downs since their bout, with Davis losing the title to Ryan Bader following the McGeary fight. However, he’s followed it up with wins over Leonardo Leite and Linton Vassel prior to losing to Vadim Nemkov. McGeary is 2-2 since the Davis bout, with his last fight being a come from behind knockout victory over King Mo in December.

The hopes of this fight are that it will bring some clarity to the 205-pound division, where right now everyone is chasing the champion, Ryan Bader.
