Khaos Williams wasted no time reminding everyone of the danger he brings at UFC Vegas 117 on Saturday night.

In a fast and violent opening-round showdown, Williams leaned on his trademark power and sharp counter striking to overwhelm Veretennikov, scoring a statement finish that snapped his losing streak and reestablished him as a threat in the welterweight division.

Round 1 – Both men came out firing with heavy shots. Veretennikov tried to close the distance and engage, but Williams did a good job of countering.

Williams didn’t allow Veretennikov to land anything clean without making him pay. He rushed in and clinched, pressing him to the fence and looking for a takedown, but Veretennikov defended well.

Williams disengaged and returned to striking, continuing his heavy counter attacks. A big right hand rocked Veretennikov and dropped him, and while Williams tried to finish, he couldn’t keep him down.

Staying down may have been the safer option, as Williams ended it shortly after with a vicious combination.

The finish was emphatic, showcasing Williams’ timing and power at its best. It was the kind of performance that reminds the division just how dangerous he can be when he finds his rhythm.

Khaos Williams got back to the win column, snapping a two-fight losing streak and gaining momentum in a stacked welterweight division.
