Ignacio Bahamondes Hyped For Striking Scrap With Fiziev

UFC lightweight Ignacio Bahamondes goes into enemy territory to take on Rafael Fiziev at UFC Baku on Saturday night.

“Being in the octagon with Rafael Fiziev is an honor for me. I’ve been watching him since he got into the UFC. I’m a striker too so I always like to see strikers doing their thing,” Bahamondes told reporters on Wednesday.

“It’s a great honor and it means a lot to me. The UFC is seeing I’m ready for it and I love it.”

Bahamondes (17-5) couldn’t wait to accept the matchup against a fellow high-level striker. The expectation of a firefight between the two is shared by fans everywhere.

“I’m a striker, he’s a striker, we are really explosive. I think we’re going to stand and bang in the middle of the octagon,” he said.

“That’s what the people want to see and that’s what we’re going to give to them.”

Fiziev has shown the ability to wrestle in his fights. Should he feel overwhelmed standing with Bahamondes it’s possible he’ll shoot for takedowns.

It might not be the wisest move.

“I’m going to stand and bang in the middle of the octagon,” said Bahamondes.

“If he decides to take me down it’s going to be his end.”
