Lance Lawrence Representing For Louisville, “Looking to snatch necks, cash checks”

There’s nothing like fighting at home, but for LFA featherweight Lance Lawrence, it’s a chance to put Louisville, Kentucky on the map at LFA 210 against Javier Reyes.

Lawrence (9-4) will represent Louisville in the main event on June 13 against Reyes in the main event. It’s become a big deal for Lawrence, and the city itself.

“It’s awesome man. I’m getting messages everyday from people like, ‘Man, I see you on the billboard!’ People I’ve known my whole life or I haven’t talked to in years,” Lawrence told Cageside Press.

“‘Man I just saw you downtown’ or ‘here and here’. They’re doing so much advertising with my face now. It’s pretty cool man.”

The Louisville featherweight is well known outside of Kentucky and the regional scene. He made his Dana White’s Contender Series appearance in 2019. Although it didn’t go the way he wanted it to the experience was invaluable.

“I’m grateful for the experience. I wouldn’t change a thing man. I learned, I got through the fight. Didn’t fight very smartly in my opinion. I learned a lot from it. It was a big learning experience,” he said.

“All the lights were real new to me. I just went from the real local regional stage to Dana White’s Contender Series. It was a lot to take in.”

Now he gets the big stage once again this time at LFA 210 against a very tough out in Reyes. When Lawrence got the call for the fight it barely took half a minute to answer.

“‘Let’s do it’. I probably had 30 seconds from text to me saying, ‘let’s do it’. Send me the contract. I just want an opponent,” he said.

“He’s a super game opponent, great record, huge amount of experience. Guy’s already fought for the title. It’s a huge fight for me and I’m excited to get in there with another veteran.”

Veteran experience, both possess, but only one man gets to win on Friday night.

“It’s a great matchup. It’s a making for a great fight overall. Javier comes to fight, he comes to win, and I’m coming to stop everything he’s bringing,” said Lawrence.

“I’m going to do my best to deliver that for the city of Louisville and everyone watching.”

A win over Reyes would be a highlight on his record, but ‘The Tornado’ has his sights set higher. UFC levels in fact.

“I know Contender Series is right around the corner. I really want a slot, I want a fight on there, and if not, I’m going to stay ready,” he said.

Current LFA featherweight champion Lerryan Douglas has gotten the call for DWCS in September. That leaves the LFA 145 belt up for grabs.

‘The Tornado’ hopes to grab it.

“I heard he’s going to Contender Series so it’s strap season if nothing else man. Give me the strap or give me Contender Series,” he said.

“I’m looking to snatch necks, cash checks, brother.”
