MMA legend BJ Penn has been arrested in Hawaii on charges of ‘abuse of family, or household member’ and has a court date set for May 27.
Arrest records show that Penn, 46, posted bail of $2,000 and released with his court date set for Tuesday.
Penn posted a video to his Instagram showing the former UFC super star surrounded by police while he is in bed. Eventually he’s arrested and led out of the home in handcuffs.

“What kind of harassment? How can I be under arrest for harassment? This is my house,” Penn is heard saying in the video.
“I just went to go grab the mail.”
The man filming spoke up asking the officers why Penn was being arrested.
“This is kind of weird. I’m not sure what he did. What did he do? What did he do? That’s my question,” he said.
On screen a message, seemingly written by the man filming, says, “My cousin, Federal Agent Jade Maile Hanaoka DOING ANYTHING SHE CAN TO THROW BJ PENN IN PRISON TO SPEAK BJ PENN FAMILY FORTUNE.”
It’s the latest of a series of issues with Penn that have made friends, family and fans very concerned for his well-being. Penn has posted to his social media that he believes members of his family have been replaced by look-alike characters.
The caption on the video may provide insight into what Penn believes is happening to his family.
“In Hawaii, “impostor theft” refers to instances where individuals falsely impersonate others, often to steal their identity or commit fraudulent acts. This can involve using a fake identity to obtain documents, financial accounts, or even posing as law enforcement or other professionals to commit crimes.”
Penn has posted several videos he filmed accusing family members of being impostors.
