UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett isn’t afraid to speak his mind making his case for a title shot with a win over Michael Chandler, and a fight against a soon-to-retire lightweight legend.

#12 Pimblett (22-3) will be part of the co-main event on a stacked UFC 314 card against #7 Michael Chandler with plenty on the line if you ask the Liverpool native.

“First five-round fight in the UFC, first proper co-main event, when I was co-main event last time I was just move up to it because a fight fell out. Can’t wait to go to Miami,” Pimblett told ESPN Deportes.

“It’s going to be amazing. Nice jump up the rankings. Beat Michael Chandler, jump up to rank 7. One more fight away from a title shot I think.”

A win over Chandler has earned others title shots, and it’s something Pimblett believes should come his way as well. One case in point was Charles Oliveira.

“Charles, he just beat Chandler. If Chandler gets a title shot off beating Chandler, then I want a title shot when I beat Chandler,” he said.

“This fight I think, personally, it shuts everyone up. When I beat Chandler no one can really say anthing.”

If Pimblett seems set on proving people wrong it’s because he likely is. One man in particular is UFC lightweight legend Dustin Poirier. Poirier has said he wants his next fight to be his last, but turned down Pimblett saying he wanted ‘legends only’ for his last go.

“Well he said something about me the other day, didn’t he? Saying it’s ‘legends only’ and he thinks Chandler would beat me. I think he should have one more fight. He looked good in his last fight. I don’t understand why you’d retire when you look good,” he said.

“But he must be an idiot. I think I beat Dustin Poirier, so I’d love to fight him.”
