This year’s UFC Mexico City card has its main event.
During Saturday’s UFC 312 Pay-Per-View broadcast, promotion officials announced that former flyweight champ Brandon Moreno (22-8-2) will face recent title challenger Steve Erceg (12-3) in the card’s main event, set for March 29, 2025 at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico.
The fight finds Moreno looking to build off a win over Amir Albazi that came in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada last November. At the time, much had been made over Mexico’s Moreno, a two-time UFC flyweight champion, taking a brief hiatus from MMA, and missing out on Noche UFC/UFC 306 at The Sphere in Las Vegas.
It all worked out for the best, however, with Moreno winning a one-sided unanimous decision over Albazi, snapping a two-fight skid in the process (including the loss of his title to Alexandre Pantoja in July 2023).
Australia’s Steve Erceg started his pro career 12-1, which took him to a title fight with Pantoja at UFC 301 last May. After losing a decision, Erceg was finished by New Zealand’s Kai Kara-France at UFC 305 in August.
With its main event now set, UFC Mexico City on March 29 now features the following reported match-ups:
- Brandon Moreno vs. Steve Erceg
- Édgar Cháirez vs. C.J. Vergara
- Ronaldo Rodríguez vs. Kevin Borjas
- Kelvin Gastelum vs. Joe Pyfer
- Loopy Godinez vs. Julia Polastri
- David Martínez vs. Saimon Oliveira
- José Medina vs. Ateba Abega Gautier
