Santiago Ponzinibbio Looks Back At UFC Run, Wants UFC Back In Argentina

Las Vegas – UFC welterweight Santiago Ponzinibbio looks back at his 11-year UFC run as he gets set to take on Carlston Harris at UFC Vegas 101 on Saturday night.

Ponzinibbio (29-8) made his entrance into the UFC following a successful run on The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 2 where the only thing that went wrong was a broken arm which took him out of the final.

“Was so good the experience to be part of The Ultimate Fighter. Inside the house was amazing. I have a lot of good experience there,” Ponzinibbio told Cageside Press on Wednesday.

“A lot of tough moments because I did four fights in like 40 days. Very good memories. This is year 12 (in) the UFC man. This is a long road and super happy. Super happy to still continue fighting in the high level in the world represent my country, my people, the people believe in me.”

Even without walking away with the title of TUF winner Ponzinibbio felt like he was the best fighter that season. The accolades he did walk away with prove it.

“I won all the fight. The four fight(s) I won. I finished two, I won the bonus, the best fight of the season, best knockout of the season,” he said.

The promotion saw Ponzinibbio as such an asset that they put on their first show in Argentina which he headlined against Neil Magny.

“(I brought) the company to Argentina. Was a dream. Everything perfect. I finished him with a beautiful knockout. Good fight,” he said.

Now he wants to return.

“I think (it’s) very important to grow the sport there and also we have more talent now,” he said.

“This is a good moment to (go) back to Argentina.”
