Trouble at the scales has once again hindered a ONE Championship title fight, as the promotion kicks off its 2025 on Amazon Prime Video with ONE Fight Night 27.
While multiple fighters would fail weight/hydration tests in advance of the card, main event Muay Thai star Akbar Abdullaev’s miss was the most consequential.
Per promotion officials, “Akbar Abdullaev missed weight for his featherweight MMA bout and won’t be eligible to win the ONE Featherweight MMA World Championship. He will forfeit 20% of his purse to his opponent, Tang Kai. The bout will proceed at a catchweight of 156.75 pounds.” ONE’s website was subsequently updated to show the main event as a non-title bout.
The night’s other title fight moves forward as planned, with Denice Zamboanga and Alyona Rassohyna vying for an interim atomweight title in MMA.
