Brandon Royval Talks Utah Shooting, “Bit of a sh*t magnet”

UFC APEX – UFC flyweight Brandon Royval had a heck of a fight week in Utah just a week before his main even scrap with Tatsuro Taira at UFC Vegas 98 on Saturday night.

“I don’t really like care to talk about it too much because someone died,” Royval told reporters on Wednesday.

“I should definitely have prepared something to say for this.”

Royval (16-7) was in Utah for UFC 307 as a corner for teammate Alex Hernandez who went on to win his short-notice bout. The team witnessed the shooting and Royval took off running chasing the shooter down.

“Yeah there was a shooting that happened in Utah. It happened pretty much right in front of us. We’ve seen some crazy sh*t. Alex stood locked in, won his fight, and kudos for him on that. That was a lot to deal with first thing in the morning,” he said.

“Pretty much anything that could go wrong on that walk did go wrong.”

It was just the latest of a string of incidents that Royval just happened to be around for.

“I feel like I’ve found myself in a lot of sh*tty situations. I feel like I’m a little bit of a sh*t magnet. I’m not really unfamiliar with some weird sh*t like that,” he said.

“I did CPR like a week before on like another dude. It’s actually been a crazy month. I would stay as far away from me as possible to be completely honest. Gotten threatened by crackheads, done CPR, been in a car accident. Oh yeah a f*cking shooting seeing someone die. Rest in peace. Damn. Crazy.”
