Prediction: I love this fight. Martinez has been a top prospect in the division for years. With Franklin, he’s unknown for the most part but I’ve scouted him ever since he was an amateur.
I am surprised to see Franklin on DWCS this season because I figured he’d grow more on the regional scene. I am a big fan of his style and his personality. I came into scouting this confidently picking Martinez but I think Franklin can make this close. Martinez fights behind his legs so if Franklin can stay on the inside he can make this fight dirty.
Martinez is really good at keeping his range and can snipe as guys advance. I ultimately think Martinez is too polished as a striker. Franklin has the power advantage but Martinez has more tools. I think Martinez chips away on the outside, uses his superior footwork, and counters Franklin as he comes in. I’ve got Martinez by decision and I’m 55% confident.
