Paris – UFC welterweight Bryan Battle faces Kevin Jousset at UFC Paris on Saturday, but he spoke on fellow welterweight Ian Machado Garry on media day.
“Yo listen at first it was really like he had a lot of hype and it was someone that I knew I could beat,” Battle told reporters on Wednesday.
“Then we both fought on that card so we’re rubbing shoulders. He did some things that I just didn’t like. It really actually soured my taste towards him. Before it was just like a friendly (rivalry).”
Battle (10-2) and Garry both took part in UFC on ABC 4 in Charlotte, NC in 2023. Both men won their fights that night.
“He’s where I want to get to. I want to steal his clout. Now it’s like I actually just don’t like him. He’s a cringey dude. He’s a talented fighter, but even that fight week he left a pizza at DRod’s (Daniel Rodriguez) door. That’s not funny to me,” said Battle.
“That’s just a dickhead move. He does things that aren’t funny to me. He’s good. Everything he’s got he deserves, he’s earned it, but for sure. I’ve told him to his face I’d knock him out. He didn’t tell me he’d knock me out back. He was ‘okay well you know get a couple more wins’. That’s not what I’m thinking about right now.”
