Manchester – UFC featheweight Giga Chikadze makes his return to action after nearly a year away against Arnold Allen at UFC 304 on Saturday night.
“He’s ranked higher. He’s very strong opponent and he’s been one of the best in the world so definitely (happy with the matchup),” Chikadze told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.
“There’s history too. Couple of times he declined the fight from 2020 I (was) supposed to fight him. I was a replacement, his opponent got injured, and he didn’t take this fight. After this I believe there was one more time offered. He declined my fight against me twice.”
Chikadze (15-3) claims Allen turned the fight down twice, but finally decided to take it in Manchester in his home country.
“Finally we’re here. He found the right place. I’m in England,” he laughed.
The fight is on the list of bangers that fans are looking forward to on a good UFC 304 card. Two high-level strikers on PPV with the kind of crowd that Manchester brings is a recipe for fireworks.
“I’m (a) striker and I like to fight strikers because it’s very entertaining for the fans if the fight going to go for all the way. You guys (are) going to enjoy every second,” he said.
“Hopefully he’ll stand and bang because you know English fans that’s what they like and I’m here to entertain all the English fans.”
