Bantamweights Payton Talbott and Yanis Ghemmouri kicked off the UFC 303 televised prelims on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Talbott, a budding star in the promotion entering with an 8-0 record, was looking to stay undefeated. France’s Ghemmouri, meanwhile, was looking to bounce back from a loss in his promotional debut.

This one was over in a flash.

The fight began with Yanis throwing a wild spinning kick that missed wide, to open the fight. When the two fighters reset and got to the middle of the octagon, Talbott threw a crisp jab backing off his opponent and a landed right hand that flattened his opponent and dropped him to the ground. Talbott paused for a beat, seemingly giving the referee a second to stop the bout, before he calmly descended to the ground and landed a vicious strike in the process. Payton spammed his left hand into Ghemmouri’s head and rendered the fighter unconscious as the ref stepped in to call of the fight.

In his post-fight interview Payton Talbott talked about his clean knockout before coldly calling out a fighter saying, “Adrian Yanez, let’s see if you belong in that top 20.”

Official Result: Payton Talbot def. Yanis Ghemmouri by KO, Round 1, 0:19
