After a lengthy layoff, Invicta FC is finally set to return, with Invicta FC 55 arriving on June 28, 2024 headlined by a women’s bantamweight title fight.
The fight will see former UFC fighter and current Invicta 135lb champ Talita Bernardo defending her title against ex-Bellator MMA athlete Olga Rubin. Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp announced the news on Tuesday on SiriusXM, with the promotion also confirming the booking on social media.
Invicta FC 55 will take place at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas, per promotion officials.
Bernardo (10-4) has won all four of her fights since parting ways with the UFC in 2019, after posting a 1-3 record there. She’s 3-0 under the Invicta banner, and won the promotion’s bantamweight title in January of 2023 after claiming a unanimous decision over Taneisha Tennant.
The Brazilian also captured a win over UFC fighter Lucie Pudilova under the Oktagon banner subsequent to her exit from the UFC.
Rubin (9-3), a Russian fighting out of London, England, faced Julia Budd in a failed bid to claim the Bellator MMA women’s featherweight title in 2019. She arrived in Invicta in 2022, losting to Tennant in her first shot at bantamweight gold. Now, having picked up back-to-back wins over Serena DeJesus and Claire Guthrie, she’ll get another crack at gold.
Invicta FC have not held an event since October of 2023. In addition to announcing the June event and title fight, Knapp suggested that a new broadcast deal will also be revealed soon, and that the company will return to a busier schedule moving forward.
