Karl Williams Re-Injured Doing Home Renovations

UFC APEX – UFC heavyweight Karl Williams makes his return to the octagon after a series of unfortunate events, pun somewhat intended, to face Justin Tafa at UFC Vegas 89 on Saturday night.

“I had surgery, and then recovery, and then I was trying to fight in December, but powers that be know better so I wasn’t able to,” Williams told reporters on Wednesday.

“We got booked for March and it’s fight week.”

Williams (9-1) did not disclose what the surgery was for, but unfortunately for him there was one thing stopping him from a full recovery. House chores.

“I did a lot of stuff I wasn’t supposed to do. After the surgery I went and built my fence, built a fence, redid my bathroom, redid my closet which ended up making me have to take longer time off because I ended up re-messing up my surgery,” Williams said.

“Taking that time off, specially with the injury not knowing when you’re going to come back, even once you get cleared from the doctors you don’t know when you’re going to get booked. You stay busy in your yard, but not very much right after surgery.”

In his return he gets Tafa who is known for heavy hands and walking forward.

“He’s a brawler, he comes to put people to sleep, so I’m expecting to be moving a lot. That’s how their fighting style is,” he said.

“You see a lot of the Samoans, Tai (Tuivasa), Tai just fought. They coming out they’re trying to put hands on you.”
