TUF 28 finalists Pannie Kianzad and Macy Chiasson faced off in a rematch over five years in the making at UFC Vegas 88 on Saturday.
Chiasson had won The Ultimate Fighter 28 at featherweight, defeating Kianzad by submission in the finale. Saturday’s rematch came down a weight class, with the UFC having mothballed its women’s featherweight division following Amanda Nunes retiring.
Early on in Chiasson vs. Kianzad 2, it was Macy getting the fight to the ground. From there, Chiasson would hunt a triangle, but didn’t have it locked in, and Kianzad scrambled free. When they went back down it was Pannie on top, but she had to contend with a leg lock attempt; Chiasson then scrambled out and threatened to take the back.
Eventually, Macy Chiasson would drag her old TUF foe down, taking the back with both hooks in and ninety seconds remaining on the clock. The arm went under the chin, and Kianzad briefly fought the hands before being forced to tap— with Chiasson exploding in celebration after!
With the win, Chiasson moves to 2-0 against Pannie Kianzad, and is back in the win column after over a year on the sidelines following a loss to Irene Aldana in 2022.
Official Result: Macy Chiasson def. Pannie Kianzad by submission (rear-naked choke), Round 1, 3:54
