Mateusz Gamrot Looking To Make Statement Against Former Champion

Miami, FL – When you get a matchup with a former champion it’s an opportunity to make a statement and UFC lightweight Mateusz Gamrot is planning to do just that as he prepares to take on Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 299 on Saturday night.

“My last fight with (Rafael) Fiziev was bad situation because (of an) injury. I wish quick recovery to Fiziev. Right now I want to show my best skills. I accept that RDA will attack me,” Gamrot told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.

“There’s going to be a lot of action a lot of scramble on the ground. I think this fight can be similar like fight versus (Arman) Tsarukyan.”

One of the pros for Gamrot fighting at UFC 299 is fighting near the place he calls home. Gamrot trains at American Top Team in Coconut Creek with the likes of Dustin Poirier and enjoys the short travel time for UFC 299 fight week.

“I will fight like close to my gym. Yesterday I come here (in) like 30 minutes and travel was done. Acclimatization is done. Super happy that I can fight here because a lot of my friends, a lot of my friends from gym, will come and will (be) cheering (for) me,” he said.
