Magomedrasul Gasanov vs Ibragim Magomedov

Magomedrasul Gasanov (19-2) has won fourteen straight fights and defends his middleweight title in a Grand Prix semi-final against Ibragim Magomedov (12-2) at ACA 171. Ibragim is the best up and coming talent in ACA’s middleweight division and hopes to dethrone the longstanding champion who is starting to lap his competition. Ibragim and Shamil Abdulaev, the Grand Prix finalist who is waiting for the winner of this fight, are only two big names Gasanov is yet to beat at 185. His wrestling and clinch are what makes him so dominant; they put him right alongside Johnny Eblen as the best middleweights outside of the UFC.

He is not invincible though, as he got hurt badly by Artem Frolov’s left hook in a fifth round of a fight he was dominating. Southpaw Magomedov has not been shown thus far to have that same power in his hands but has a vicious step-in knee, finishing two of his last three opponents with it including an incredible highlight against Husein Kushagov. The main battle of the fight will still be if the hot up and comer can improve his defensive wrestling and stop Gasanov’s takedowns. Gasanov is turning thirty this year and sadly time is running out for him to fight in US a some point, where he could potentially prove himself to be the best middleweight in the world.
