2023 Contender Series winner Jean Silva made his UFC debut on Saturday, taking on Westin Wilson at UFC Vegas 84 in a featherweight fight.

Wilson was also looking for his first win inside the octagon, after dropping his promotional debut against Joanderson Brito.

Wilson refused to touch gloves to start the fight; whether or not that fired up Silva remained to be seen. It was a slow start but as soon as Wilson went to it he was dropped briefly with a counter left. Moments later Silva got a brief takedown but let Wilson back up.

Wilson did land a nice one-two using his long reach. He did get clipped again coming in but he took it well enough, at least at that point. Wilson didn’t take a power right hand from Silva however, with the blow dropping Wilson. Westin Wilson was in a ton of danger as Silva kept throwing some bombs and Wilson was all over the place. Wilson was just dropped over the cage getting hit and the ref finally had mercy on Wilson.

A huge win in Jean Silva’s promotional debut, and the third straight stoppage victory to kick off the UFC Vegas 84 card.

Official Result: Jean Silva def. Westin Wilson by TKO (punches), Round 1, 4:12
