Middleweight stars Marvin Vettori and Brendan Allen will collide at a UFC event this April.
Promotion officials took to social media on Wednesday to announce the match-up, set to take place at a UFC Fight Night event on April 6, 2024. While not included in the announcement, the booking is expected to serve as the card’s five-round main event.
The April 6 date comes just a week out from the historic UFC 300 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Vettori (19-7-1) has been trading wins and losses dating back to his failed 2021 title bid against Israel Adesanya. “The Italian Dream” bounced back with a win over Paulo Costa, and last year collected another against Roman Dolidze. But the losses have come in step, with Vettori most recently suffering a setback against Jared Cannonier.
“All In” Allen (23-5) finds himself on one of the best runs in the company at the moment, with six straight wins including five finishes in that span. All five of those submissions have come via rear-naked choke; most recently, it was Scotland’s Paul Craig making the mistake of letting Allen take his back.
Vettori is ranked #5 in the UFC middleweight division currently, while Allen sits at #8.
No others fights beyond Marvin Vettori vs. Brendan Allen have been announced for the company’s April 6 event.
