It was a popular choice coming into UFC Vegas 83 for Fight of the Night — and Nasrat Haqparast vs. Jamie Mullarkey did indeed take home a bonus.
Rather than Fight of the Night, however (no flight claimed that honor at Saturday’s event in Las Vegas), it was a Performance of the Night bonus that Haqparast collected for his first-round TKO of Mullarkey. After sitting the Australian down with a heavy shot, Haqparast swarmed even as his opponent was on his way back up. When Mullarkey fell a second time, the writing was on the wall, and the finish came seconds later.
It was Nasrat Haqparast’s first finish since 2019, when he stopped Joaquim Silva — another bonus-earning performance.
With no Fight of the Night handed out at UFC Vegas 83, it was instead three other individual performances bring home the bonus money. In the co-main event, Khalil Rountree Jr.’s nasty walk-off finish of Anthony Smith, technically a TKO, pocketed him $50,000.
The other two Performance of the Night awards went to Tim Elliott, who choked Su Mudaerji unconscious on the main card, and Hyun Sung Park. South Korea’s Park smashed Shannon Ross in a flyweight fight situated on the UFC Vegas 83 preliminary card, in a finish set up with a well-placed knee.
