There’s been a last-minute addition to the UFC Vegas 83 card next Saturday, and it will be Carlos Vera stepping into a whole new ballgame. Or fight, anyway.
Vera (11-3), who was supposed to be in action at CFFC 128, will instead face Daniel Marcos at the UFC Apex on December 9, 2023. Due to the short-notice nature of the bout, it will be contested at a 140lb catchweight.
News of the booking was first reported by MMA Latino America, with sources confirming the bout to Jake Noecker/Cageside Press.
Vera, hailing from Ecuador, is an alum of The Ultimate Fighter 31, and has not fought since losing to eventual bantamweight winner Brad Katona on the show. Given that bout counts as an exhibition contest, Vera remains on a four-fight win streak. He has previously competed for LFA, among other promotions.
Peru’s Daniel Marcos is a perfect 15-0, and has won back-to-back fights to start his UFC career after winning his way into the promotion via DWCS in 2022. He saw a fight fall through last month, however, when Daniel Santos withdrew, and replacement Victor Hugo missed weight.
UFC Vegas 83 takes place December 9, 2023 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, NV. Song Yadong vs. Chris Gutierrez headlines. The following match-ups have been reported for the card:
