Las Vegas, NV — A clearly upbeat Terrance Mitchell appears elated to be the opponent that faces Raul Rosas Jr. as the teenager looks to return to the win column this Saturday.
Especially given the placement the pair’s bantamweight fight has as a result.
“Being on the main card, working your life to get where you want to be, seeing the fruits of your labor — I’m all smiles,” Mitchell (14-3) explained during this week’s UFC Noche media day. “Well prepared. Three weeks, eight weeks, completely different me, completely different fight.”
While many have questioned Rosas Jr. being in the UFC at just 18, “I respect it a lot,” said Mitchell, who is also looking to bounce back from a loss this weekend. A short notice one that gave him just three weeks to prepare, but got his foot in the door with the promotion.
“I’ve been working my ass off to get here, and to be here. So I respect that he’s already here, but I’m looking to take all his fans, all his shine. I think he has a bright future ahead of him, but I’m looking to stop the train right here, right now.”
Mitchell, 33, added that it isn’t odd to fight someone who is just 18. “Age doesn’t matter in this sport. It’s a rough sport, tough sport, and I know he’s ready for it. I’m ready for it. I’ve been doing it since I was 18. Here’s here at 18, that’s the only difference.”
