A residential Maine property owned by UFC President Dana White was recently the subject of a break and enter attempt — and police have quickly collared a suspect.

The incident transpired earlier this past Monday, and was caught on a doorbell camera — with footage posted by White to social media shortly, offering a $2,500 reward for anyone providing information leading to the arrest of a suspect.

Video shows a male suspect violently attempting to kick in the front door of the property. When that attempt fails, he appears to take notice of the camera and grabs at it before fleeing. Apparently unaware that doorbell cameras don’t actually store video footage inside the unit itself, but generally on cloud storage solutions or a local NAS.

Let’s be honest, anyone making this sort of attempt isn’t the brightest.

While it’s unclear if anyone assisted in fingering the perp, police in Levant, Maine noted several tips were submitted, and by Wednesday, a 23-year old man was facing a pair of charges related to the attempted break and enter.

In a media release, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that “After processing evidence and information developed, deputies interviewed Brady Cooper (23) of Glenburn. Cooper has been charged with two criminal offenses and the case was submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for further review.”

No further details were released in regards to Cooper. However, the Sheriff’s Office did note that the property was occupied at the time of the incident.

Speaking to reporters following Tuesday’s instalment of Dana White’s Contender Series, the UFC President addressed the matter.

“Do you f*cking think you’re going to break into my house and there’s no cameras at my house, you f*cking idiots?” White exclaimed (h/t MMA Junkie). “It’s crazy. I’m assuming the guy was breaking in to try to rob the house. My sister and her husband and some of his friends are up there visiting right now. The guy came up and tried to kick the door in a couple times and then noticed the camera was there, tried to rip it off and rang the doorbell, freaked out and ran away.”

A caretaker of the home, who liaised with police, told White they wanted him to send them the doorbell cam footage, which they would post online the following morning. The promoter had a better idea. “I said, ‘Yeah, f*ck that. Send that to me right now.’ That dude woke up and was famous the next morning. The Levant sheriff out up there, they had them in a few hours. We got him.”

A search of Maine court records shows a Brady Cooper matching the suspect’s provided age as having previously been cited for traffic violations in 2020, including driving without insurance and speeding. The failure to produce proof of insurance charge was later dismissed.
