UFC Vegas 78 is official, but not without some drama at the scales on Friday morning.
While main event welterweights Vicente Luque and Rafael dos Anjos successfully made weight, a pair of main card middleweights struggled at the scales. Those were Tafon Ncukwi and Josh Fremd, coming in 3.5 and 3 pounds over the middleweight limit, respectively. As it happens, they’re in separate fights; Fremd faces Jamie Pickett on Saturday, and Nchukwi takes on A.J. Dobson.
Regardless of weight, the fights are a go, with both fighters forfeiting a portion of their purse.
