The UFC’s September 23, 2023 Fight Night card has an impressive one-two punch topping the show.

Per official UFC broadcast partner ESPN, citing Dana White, the Apex-hosted card will be headlined by a lightweight scrap featuring Rafael Fiziev (12-2) taking on Mateusz Gamrot (22-2, 1NC). In addition, the co-headliner will see “50K” Dan Ige (17-6) taking on Bryce Mitchell (15-1) in a featherweight match-up that promises to be a thrilling clash of styles.

The hard-hitting Fiziev was last seen at UFC 286 in London, England this past March, where he dropped a decision against former interim lightweight champ Justin Gaethje. Up to that point, Fiziev had been riding a six fight win streak with victories over Bobby Green and Rafael dos Anjos, another former champion in the promotion.

It’s straight back to a high-profile fight for Fiziev, a Thailand-based Azerbaijani born in Kazakhstan. Poland’s Gamrot, a former KSW double-champ, is 5-1 through six fights and coming off a win over Jalin Turner at UFC 285, which took place earlier in March.

Fiziev is ranked #6 in the 155lb division, while Gamrot sits just one spot behind him at #7.

As for Dan Ige, the Hawaiian has won two straight, including a Performance of the Night winning knockout of Damon Jackson. Mitchell, meanwhile, will look the bounce back from the first loss of his professional career, suffered at the hands of Ilia Topuria at UFC 282 in December.

Arguably more shocking than the loss was how it transpired, with submission specialist Mitchell caught in an arm-triangle choke.

Bryce Mitchell and Dan Ige hold the #12 and #13 spots in the featherweight top 15, respectively.

The UFC’s September 23 Fight Night show currently has the following match-ups reported:

  • Rafael Fiziev vs. Mateusz Gamrot
  • Bryce Mitchell vs. Dan Ige
  • Jake Collier vs. Mohammed Usman
  • Mizuki Inoue vs. Hannah Goldy
  • Montserrat Rendon vs. Tamires Vidal
  • Ricardo Ramos vs. Charles Jourdain
