Junyong Park Focused On Duraev, Talks Being Undersized In Middleweight Division

Las Vegas, NV – UFC middleweight Junyong Park returns to the octagon this Saturday at UFC Vegas 77 to take on Albert Duraev at the UFC APEX in a fight that Park has been expecting.

“He’s definitely a fighter I’ve known before I got into UFC. When I heard his name I was like ok this might be a fight that I can challenge myself,” Park told reporters through a translator on Wednesday.

“It is going to be a long three rounds. Pretty much like a war,” he said.

Tough fight or not Park isn’t looking past Duraev to maybe take part at UFC Singapore or anywhere else. The focus is on his fight at UFC Vegas 77.

“I really don’t look past this fight. I continue focus on the fight ahead of me and nothing beyond that point. It’s not even like I even look left or right,” he said.

“At this point it’s just continue focusing on the fight ahead.”

Even with a three-fight win streak Park isn’t slowing his training and preparation down or becoming comfortable. He knows it’s a tough division to compete in specially for a fighter his size.

“In this middleweight division I’m kind of small compared to the other fighters, but overall I mean it’s a saying ‘Anyone can do it, it’s just can you actually continue to do it’,” he said.

“My thing is I continue running in the morning, train in the afternoon, and run again. It’s just a lifestyle. I continue to train hard and learn from my mistakes and continue to grow from it.”
