Abus Magomedov Not Bothered By Criticism Of Getting Main Event, #7 Opponent

Las Vegas, NV – Making his headlining debut UFC middleweight Abus Magomedov will be in the top fight at UFC Vegas 76 this Saturday night against Sean Strickland.

“I can understand the guys who think (that Magomedov got to a headlining fight possibly too quick) but after the fight they all will be quiet,” Magomedov told reporters on Wednesday.

“Really I don’t care about the guys who say something or thinks something. After this fight they will be, like I said, quiet.”

Magomedov (25-4-1) last fought in Sept. 2022, but has since then had two fight cancellations which can be incredibly frustrating.

“This was really, for (every) fighter, is really hard to stay always in shape. If fight is cancelled you are just in preparation, but I know in the end I will get my chance and now is the day,” he said.

Magomedov draws one of the more popular fighters in Strickland for his first main event spot.

“He’s tough guy, tough opponent, he’s (got) a lot of experience with 5 round fights. He fought already against really tough guys,” Magomedov said.

“But Saturday night it will be my night.”

Having fought all around the world Magomedov makes his Las Vegas debut which comes with different pressures and issues, but it’s not something the middleweight thinks will be a problem.

“UFC believe in you, give you like big shows. For me it pushed me, motivate me, this was my goal. To get main event to get chance to become someday champion,” he said.
