Jacksonville, FL – UFC flyweight Maycee Barber may not have a number next to her name yet, but that isn’t stopping her from calling for a possible title shot against the champion who she has faced before.

“I’ve been saying it time and time again. Whether Alexa (Grasso) wins against Valentina (Shevchenko) or not I do want that rematch,” Barber told reporters at her post-fight scrum on Saturday afternoon.

“That would be ideal. We’ll see. I’m going to go back and talk to Hunter (Campbell) Mick (Maynard) and the team and figure it out.”

Barber (13-2) lost to Grasso in Feb. 2021 and it’s been a rematch she’s been asking for since. Whether it’s for the title or not.

“Yes and no. Probably figure it out. I honestly have to talk to everybody, but I mean that’s what I wanted was Alexa in a rematch,” she said.

Barber isn’t doubting Grasso’s ability to retain her title against Shevchenko in the rematch, but she makes the point that the fight is still very close.

“It’s a toss up. Alexa is an incredible fighter. Valentina was a dominant champion for so long for a reason,” she said.

“Honestly, it’s hard to give a prediction because anything can happen.”
