UFC Vegas 75: Pat Sabatini Says He Battled Self-Doubt, Inner Demons After Loss

Las Vegas, NV — Former Cage Fury FC featherweight champ Pat Sabatini returned to the win column on Saturday night off a strong performance at UFC Vegas 75 against Brazil’s Lucas Almeida.

Sabatini (18-4) put Almeida away with an arm-triangle in the second round of a fight he had thoroughly dominated from the outset.

After seeing a four-fight win streak snapped one fight prior against Damon Jackson, Sabatini spoke to media outlets including Cageside Press following the bout about battling self-doubt when coming off a defeat. Not to mention the feeling of overcoming that self-doubt.

“There’s a feeling coming over adversity, just with anything in life. Coming off that last loss to this, you battle self-doubt, you battle your own inner demons, and you come out on top. That’s a feeling you just can’t describe,” Sabatini stated.

The Jackson loss is something that pushed him moving forward, as Sabatini went on to explain that “I always found setbacks and losses my biggest motivator. Any time I’ve ever lost or felt that feeling, I’ve come back twice as hard. I’ve just got to keep that energy after this win, keep the ball rolling.”

Sabatini took exactly seven days off after that loss to Jackson, dealing with “a little bit of a health issue.” Past that, he’s been in the gym ever since. “Obviously not overdoing it, not overkill. But we only have so much time, and in this sport there’s so much to get good at in that time. So why waste it?”
