Bonus picks from Mike “NarcoCop” of The Lambo Plays Podcast
Archie Colgan – 7-0 as a pro , 3-0 as a amateur. Archie Colgan is my #1 prospect in all of MMA right now. He can do it all. Comes with a very good wrestling background where he wrestled for 3 years at D1 Wyoming University. He fell one round short of becoming an All American in 2016, Big 12 wrestling champion and UWW Freestyle National Champion. Training partner with Kamaru Usman and Justin Gaethje, this guy sees it all in his gym. One of the most impressive aspects of Colgan’s game is his striking. Coming from a wrestling background it is quite impressive how good his striking is. Very good boxing with good defense with tons of power with his hands.
Archie has great cardio with good durability for taking shots. He has faced a good opposition in big promotions such as LFA, Bellator and Eagle FC and has completely dominated all his opponents. The only thing currently lacking from Archie’s game is his BJJ which I’m sure he will eventually level up being only 27 yrs old. Listening to some of his teammates in the gym, they always mention Archie’s name as a guy who is a force to be reckoned with at the 155 pound weight class. If there is a downside its his actual size at 155 being only 5’9 but he more then makes up for it with his technique and wrestling.
Timur Khizriev – 27 yr old undefeated prospect from Dagestan, Russia. He’s been training with very high level fighters his entire mma career. You see him training with Jon Jones at Jackson Wink at a very young age amongst legends like Zabit and many other killers. He has very good standup with that good Dagestani wrestling style. He has not faced many high level fighters but does have a very impressive decision win over someone who I consider a very high level prospect himself in Bibert Tumenov. He also has a win over Daniel Weichel in his very first Bellator matchup which is not easy. Weichel has gone to split dec losses vs Yamauichi and Patricio Pitbull. Timur virtually dominated the fight except for some small adversity in the 3rd round. This guy has over 80 combat sambo matches and has a very good kicking game to go with very fast hands thrown in combinations. 12-0 with 4 finishes , the one thing that I do think he lacks is KO power.
Islam Omarov – probably #1A prospect for me. Dude has khabib style wrestling but also a very good striker with crazy cardio. 13-0 with some very good wins such as Bibert Tumenov and other ACA fighters.
