Undefeated lightweight Jesse Roberts has signed an exclusive, multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA.
Roberts, 27, has posted a 6-0 record to start his professional fighting career, which saw him debut with Bellator in 2019 for a one-off fight against Brazilian jiu-jitsu standout AJ Agazarm at Bellator 214.
Following that fight, which was also Agazarm’s mixed martial arts debut, Roberts returned to the regional circuit, competing for American Kombat Academy and most recently XMMA.
A source familiar with the situation informed Cageside Press of the signing on Thursday.
Aside from the Agazarm fight, which he won by split decision, Roberts has three stoppage victories among his six professional bouts. At XMMA 6: Bash at the Beach early last month, he picked up a decision win over Cuba’s Ronald Girones Sago.
As an amateur, Roberts also holds a win over current UFC fighter A.J. Fletcher.
Following the Agazarm victory, which took place in Los Angeles, Roberts, a Louisiana native, told KALB 5 that he had been sleeping in the gym. After putting in the hard work, “I got to fly to Los Angeles and make my pro-debut out there and get the upset victory,” Roberts stated.
No return date or opponent has been made available for Jesse Roberts, who joins Bellator’s 155lb division with the Lightweight Grand Prix underway. The weight class is reigned over by undefeated Dagestani Usman Nurmagomedov, cousin of UFC Hall of Famer and former champ Khabib Nurmagomedov.
