UFC Charlotte: Johnny Walker is Always Improving and With Win, is Ready for Title Shot

Charlotte, NC — Light Heavyweight Johnny Walker has proven to be an extremely explosive fighter and is on a two-fight win streak.

UFC on ABC 4 on Saturday will feature Johnny Walker (20-7) taking on Anthony Smith in the co-main event of the card in a high stakes bout.

“Better. Every fight I get better.” Walker said on Wednesday at media day, speaking about the strategy he would take with Smith, “I’m going to hit him hard, let’s see what he can take.”

All six of Walker’s wins in the UFC are by first round stoppage. When the 6’6″ tall Johnny wins, it’s a short and violent night for his opponent.

“Beating him up will whatever it takes its going to show I can finish the guy number 5 in the rankings is going to show that I’m ready for a title shot,” Walker stated when asked of the magnitude of his fight. “100% I’m ready, I’m going to keep training every day and I’m going to develop my skills, you can get better every time you train.”

Walker, who burst on the scene in 2018 with a Contender Series win and a 4-0 start with the UFC, would lose four of his next five fights, before turning it around last year against Ion Cutelaba.

Walker displayed his extreme commitment to continually improving his game saying, “I train, eat and sleep every day. My wife [stopped working] to support my career. We both are focused on getting this championship together. I sleep and think about this.”

Fans will be in for an action packed co-main event whose winner could easily fight for the title with another win. “You know I like to finish fights so it can be in the first minute or in the last second, but I’m going to finish.”
