If you found the finish at UFC Vegas 70, the UFC fattened your wallet.
On a night that nearly fell into chaos — one fight was cancelled from the UFC Vegas 70 card per day from Thursday through Saturday — individual performances were key to keeping fans interested. Especially after Saturday saw the planned main event of Nikita Krylov vs. Ryan Spann fall through with the show already underway.
Bumped up to the headlining spot rather unexpectedly, Brendan Allen made the most of the opportunity, submitting a submission ace in Andre Muniz. The same Andre Muniz who had snapped Jacare Souza’s arm, sending the Brazilian legend into retirement.
Allen, a former LFA middleweight champion, found the rear-naked choke in the third round of a fight he was already winning.
That was one of six Performance of the Night bonuses on the night. Also cashing in were Canada’s “Proper” Mike Malott, for his submission of countryman Yohan Lainesse, and Tatiana Suarez, who forced the tap from Montana De La Rosa. Winner of The Ultimate Fighter 23, it was Suarez’s first fight in nearly four years.
On the preliminary card, Trevor Peek, Jordan Leavitt, and Joe Solecki all picked up finishes — and an extra $50,000.
With the promotion extra generous on the Performance bonus side, no Fight of the Night was awarded at UFC Vegas 70, which will be the final show at the UFC Apex for at least the next six weeks.
