London’s UFC 286 continues to grow, with the latest match-up being an all-English affair.
Lerone Murphy (11-0-1) is expected face Nathaniel Wood (19-5) in a featherweight bout at the London, England-based event on March 18, 2023 at the O2 Arena.
News of the match-up was first reported by journalist Al Zullino, who noted that the pairing is reportedly in the works. Both fighters had recently teased a return to action on social media.
Murphy, hailing from Manchester, remains undefeated in his pro career. He last competed in October of 2021, when he KO’d Makwan Amirkhani. Murphy was expected to face Nate Landwehr last year, but pulled out of the bout.
Wood has remained busy, meanwhile, fighting twice in 2022 and winning both bouts. From Mordon, England, Wood picked up his first win of the year over Charles Rosa at UFC London in March, then made the short trip to Paris to face Charles Jourdain.
Both fights went the distance, with both ending in a unanimous decision victory for Wood.
UFC 286 is expected to be headlined by welterweight champ Leon Edwards, though no official announcement has been made. The following fights have been reported for the card:
- Marvin Vettori vs. Roman Dolidze
- Joanne Wood vs. Luana Carolina
- Malcolm Gordon vs. Jake Hadley
- Jennifer Maia vs. Casey O’Neill
- Jai Herbert vs. L’udoveit Klein
- Lerone Murphy vs. Nathaniel Wood
