Friday’s UFC Vegas 62 weigh-in did not go off without a hitch.

One fighter came in three pounds heavy for his flyweight fight — that would be C.J. Vergara, who will forfeit 30% of his purse to opponent Tatsuro Taira — while another 125lb fight was lost entirely.

On that front, the flyweight affair between Brandon Royval and Askar Askarov is off the card. UFC officials announced the news Friday morning, with Cageside Press and other media outlets in attendance at the UFC Vegas 62 weigh-in.

The promotion later released a brief statement on the matter, saying that “Due to weight management issues with Askar Askarov, his flyweight bout with Brandon Royval has been canceled from tomorrow’s event.”

Askarov previously missed weight for a March 2011 bout at UFC 259, hitting the scales at 127lbs for his fight with Joseph Benavidez.

Raphael Assunção vs. Victor Henry has been promoted to the main card in place of Askarov vs. Royval.

UFC Vegas 62 takes place Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card moves forward with the following bouts:

  • Alexa Grasso vs. Viviane Araújo
  • Cub Swanson vs. Jonathan Martinez
  • Duško Todorović vs. Jordan Wright
  • Misha Cirkunov vs. Alonzo Menifield
  • Raphael Assunção vs. Victor Henry

  • Nick Maximov vs. Jacob Malkoun
  • Joanderson Brito vs. Lucas Alexander
