Newcomer Abusupiyan Magomedov (or just “Abus) arrived in the octagon on Saturday at UFC Paris, matched up with Distin Stoltzfus in a middleweight showdown.

The bout served as the featured preliminary card fight at the Accor Arena in Paris, France, perhaps a show of faith on the promotion’s end regarding their hopes for the former PFL fighter from Dagestan (and now training in Germany).

In the end, Magomedov arrived in style with one of the more memorable debuts of 2022.

This fight was over before it even started. In seconds Magomeded landed a slick front kick up the middle on the chin. Stoltzfus was visibly shaken and Magomedov landed a left hand, uppercut, and the right hand to put Stoltzfus down. The extra ground and pound sent the ref in with under a minute in the fight.

It’s hard to imagine a better debut than that for Abusupiyan “Abus” Magomedov. The showing was impressive enough that reporters backstage were already asking the Dagestani fighter about a potential fight with middleweight champ Israel Adesanya.
