A fun-looking heavyweight scrap has been added to UFC 279 this September.
The PPV show in Las Vegas is expected to feature Chris Barnett (22-8) taking on Jake Collier (13-7), per a listing on ESPN’s fight card for the event.
Both fighters will be looking to get back in the win column at the September 10, 2022 event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Collier has been trading wins and losses for the entirety of his UFC career, right through three weight classes. Moving from middleweight to light heavyweight to heavyweight, Collier has yet to secure back-to-back wins, though he did capture a Performance of the Night bonus for his submission of Chase Sherman back in January.
Collier followed that up with a loss to the ageless Andre Arlovski in April.
Barnett joined the UFC last year, and has gone 1-2 to date, though his lone win was a memorable one. The rotund heavyweight knocked out Gian Villante with a spinning wheel kick at UFC 268 last November.
He returned to action in April, losing a technical decision against Martin Buday. The fight went to the judges early after an illegal elbow left Barnett unable to continue in the bout.
UFC 279 is set to be headlined by a non-title fight featuring popular welterweights Nate Diaz and Khamzat Chimaev. Thus far, the following match-ups have been reported for the event:
