Bellator MMA makes its debut in Tacoma, Washington this week, with Bellator 283 bringing a welterweight main event to the Pacific Northwest.
It wasn’t the fight originally expected to top the card, mind you. Much to the chagrin of Sidney Outlaw, who was gearing up for a lightweight title fight, champ Patricky Pitbull was forced out of the event just weeks away. That led to Douglas Lima vs. Jason Jackson, already set for the show, being promoted to the headlining spot.
With the promotion of Lima vs. Jackson, Sidney Outlaw, meanwhile, remained on the card, in the co-main event. There was no gold in the offing, however, just a dangerous opponent in the form of ex-RIZIN FF lightweight champion Tofiq Musayev, who was making his promotional debut.
Musayev would be one to watch in Bellator, given he held a win over champ Patricky Pitbull under the RIZIN banner.
With Bellator 283 going down Friday in Tacoma, weigh-ins were set for Thursday morning. Check below for results.
Three fighters came in heavy at the scales on Thursday — and one was former champ/main event welterweight Douglas Lima, who was 1.8 pounds over the limit for a non-title fight. Mark Coates was also 1.8 pounds over the limit for a bantamweight affair with Jaylon Bates, and Kevin Boehm was 1.6 pounds heavy for his featherweight fight. All fights will move forward.
