Contender Series alum Cody Brundage faced off with TUF 29’s Tresean Gore in middleweight action on the UFC Vegas 58 preliminary card.

Gore, who had missed The Ultimate Fighter 29 finale due to injury, was competing for the first time since losing to Bryan Battle, the man who had actually won the season in the end.

Brundage for his part was coming in off a March submission victory over Dalcha Lungiambula.

The pairing looked explosive in theory on paper, and turned out to be exactly that in practice.

Round one began with Cody Brundage coming out very aggressive, rushing in on Gore and taking him down quickly. Gore got back to his feet, but had Brundage all over his back as he tried to turn into his opponent to find a way out of the clinch. Gore worked his way out and the two exchanged on the feet for most of the rest of the round, but Brundage began to slow quite a bit which worked in Gore’s favor.

Suddenly Brundage landed a big right hook, dropped Gore, and finished the fight on the ground. The explosive finish marks Brundage’s second straight win, and second finish, inside the octagon.

Official Result: Cody Brundage def. Tresean Gore via R1 3:50 TKO
