PFL 4’s Antonio Carlos Junior Hopes To Get Main Event Next

Atlanta, GA — Antonio Carlos Junior wants to headline a PFL card.

“Shoeface” makes his second appearance of the 2022 PFL season at PFL 4 against Bruce Souto. He is the co-main event of the evening, but he hopes to headline a future card.

“I hope soon. You know what I mean? The last fight, I was not in the co-main. Now I’m the co-main, maybe the next one, we’re going to be the main event,” Carlos Junor told Cageside Press during PFL 4 media day.

The 2021 light heavyweight champion is in the lead in the PFL standings with six points, and he says because of that, he can take his fight against Souto a little bit easier. He can entirely focus on the fight and focus on getting the win.

“I got the submission and finished fast [against Delan Monte] to get the six points,” Carlos Junior said. “Now, I don’t need to worry a lot about the points or whatever, just about the fight. Just winning the fight. You know, what can I do to get a win on Friday.”

Since joining the PFL in 2021, no one has been able to crack the code of the Brazilian. 2019 winner Emiliano Sordi was able to go three rounds with Carlos Junior, but everyone else has suffered a first-round submission.

While he doesn’t feel the pressure to go for a finish on Friday, he believes his opponent will make a mistake, and another submission will fall into place like it always does.
