After nearly two years on the sidelines, Dana White’s Contender Series winner Louis Cosce will finally make his sophomore trip to the octagon this September.
Cosce (7-1) is set to face Trevin Giles (14-4) in a welterweight match-up as part of the UFC’s September 10, 2022 event. Cageside Press confirmed the booking with multiple sources familiar with the situation, following an initial report by Iridium Sports Agency.
Louis Cosce and brother Orion both won their way into the UFC on the August 18, 2020 edition of the Contender Series. But after losing his debut to Sasha Palatnikov, a shoulder injury kept the Syndicate MMA fighter out of action for over a year.
Cosce was due to return to action this past April, but was forced out of his fight with Preston Parsons due to a positive COVID-19 test.
Trevin Giles, meanwhile, will look to snap a two-fight skid against “The Monster” when they meet on September 10. Giles, who started his UFC career at light heavyweight, then dropped to middleweight, came up short in his welterweight debut in January. He wound up finished by Michael Moraes via TKO; one fight prior, at 185 pounds, he was knocked out by Dricus Du Plessis.
The UFC’s September 10, 2022 event does not yet have a venue, location, or broadcast plan announced. The following fights have been reported for the event:
- Trey Ogden vs. Daniel Zellhuber
- Nikolas Motta vs. Cameron VanCamp
- Danyelle Wolf vs. Norma Dumont
- Hannah Cifers vs. Melissa Martinez
- Louis Cosce vs. Trevin Giles
