UFC Vegas 55: Jonathan Martinez Wants Frankie Edgar Fight Next

Las Vegas, NV — UFC bantamweight Jonathan Martinez walked into his post-fight media scrum at UFC Vegas 55 on Saturday night after putting on a leg-kick barrage against Vince Morales.

Martinez (16-4) defeated Morales (11-6) via unanimous decision in the prelim portion of the card.

“Just swollen right now,” Martinez said of his legs at his post-fight media scrum.

Martinez chopped up Morales’ legs regardless of which one was available.

“This is my first time switching right handed. I was trying to do something different, switched it around,” Martinez said.

“I was seeing that (Morales couldn’t move well due to the leg kicks). If he shoots he might catch a knee.”

Martinez didn’t have much more to say about the fight. He did call out future UFC hall of famer Frankie Edgar in his post-fight speech.

“I always watched him growing up. He’s one of my favorite fighters. It’s like when I fought Thomas Almeida. He was one of my favorite fighters. I would like to fight against (Edgar) too,” Martinez said. Cageside Press helped with the translation.

“I just wanted to get in there before he retires.”
