Las Vegas, NV – The opportunity to take on a legend and longtime staple of the UFC’s lightweight division is exactly what a young fighter looking to add names to his resume looks for. UFC lightweight great Clay Guida took on Claudio Puelles at UFC Vegas 52 on Saturday night.

Guida (37-21-0) the long time UFC lightweight contender has fought the who’s who at 155-pounds. Coming off a submission win over Leonardo Santos in Dec 2021 he looked to turn away another young and hungry up-and-comer.

Puelles (11-2) has had an impressive start to his UFC career going 4-1 since he entered the promotion.

One man looked to add to his storied career and the other a name to his resume. Only one man would come out victorious.

Guida with the pace right away pumping out jabs to keep Puelles away. Guida then punched his way into a single leg takedown but got caught in a triangle for a minute. When Guida would defend that Puelles would switch between an omaplata, the triangle and the arm bar. Guida was able to defend all of those attacks and get out of danger while staying on top.

Suddenly Puelles dove for the knee bar and got the tap. Even Guida didn’t see it coming and Puelles’ win streak goes to 5.

Official Result: Claudio Puelles def. Clay Guida via R1 3:01 submission (Knee Bar)
